One of the most sought after colonies of the city, Haryana urban development authority's Sector 14 is brim full with troubles of broken roads and garbage dumps.
``The roads are marked with potholes, making it difficult to even walk. Also, there are no pavements," said R S Jain, executive committee member of the RWA. Even though there is a busy market adjacent to the residential complex, speed breakers have not been constructed.
The narrow road along the market barely leaves enough space for pedestrians. Unauthorised parking on the service lane clubbed with the heavy traffic on the main carriageway leaves the area perpetually choked. ``Heaps of garbage can also be seen on the roads,'' said a resident, O P Bhutani.
When it rains, the sewers overflow and the water collects in the potholes.
The only park the sector has also remains neglected. With overgrown grass and broken benches, it is not a welcome sight. Jain added that about 30% of the streetlights do not function. Having said that, most remain lit even during the day.
Repeated requests to the administration have yielded no results. ``Non- availability of bitumen for road repair and lackadaisical attitude of the contractor to remove garbage is all that we get to hear,'' said Jain.
The presence of a labour court within the residential complex also creates security hazards.
HUDA officials refuted all allegations by saying that they have maintained the sector throughout.
